Where’s the fire?

It’s a fact: our society is one that values time above nearly anything else. Consider how irritable we sometimes get when going through checkout lines; waiting our turn at the Department of Motor Vehicles or the Post Office; or even waiting for a traffic light to change.

While a certain degree of impatience may be understandable, it can be dangerous when you’re operating a piece of machinery weighing thousands of pounds (i.e., your vehicle). In a car vs. pedestrian contest, the pedestrian’s only hope is to get out of the way.

This would seem to be common sense, but it somehow doesn’t always click when we’re determined to shave a few seconds off our travel time. And yes, it really is often only a few seconds—but driving too fast or carelessly can cause serious damage to vehicles (not to mention the potential damage to people).

So, drive safe, be careful, and obey the rules; saving a few seconds is not worth endangering someone’s life.

To learn more about how to drive safely and wisely, consider looking into a defensive driving course online. A small investment can provide a wealth of sound driving information.

It seems as the older I get, the less I drive fast. I guess it takes 30+ years before you decide driving Mach 3 with your hair on fire gets you no where fast.
