Spring Cleaning

Ah, spring is in the air (unless you’re too far north, where you may be stuck with a bit more winter). For those of us in the not-too-northern parts of the country, it’s time to think about—spring cleaning.

Wait a minute—isn’t that just for houses? That’s how most people see it, but you can apply the same principle to your vehicle. Now, we wouldn’t dare suggest that you should only clean your car once a year. But, as the weather warms up, take the opportunity to give it a really good, thorough cleaning. A clean car may run better—it can certainly make you feel better if your car is clean.

If you don’t want to do it all yourself, go to a reputable detailer. Be sure to have them clean the interior and exterior, and perhaps even under the hood (a good idea if it’s been a while since that was last done). You’ll probably have to get your hand between the seats to dig out coins, food, etc.—but it’s worth it to make your car truly clean.

This is not the most important defensive driving online tip you’ll ever see, but it’s still a helpful way to keep the machine you drive clean—and every little bit helps when it comes to staying safe.

Washing your car is a great idea! Last year I backed my truck into a fire hydrant because I had dirty windows.
