Avoiding Left Turns

Did you know you can take a defensive driving course online? Institutions such as the Florida online traffic school and the Humboldt California online traffic school can help you improve your driving skills—and may even be able to save you money on your car insurance.

One of the most frustrating things when driving is waiting to make a left turn where there is no stoplight. You can wait for 15 minutes or more, just to get out onto the road. The situation is likely to be much worse if you’re turning onto a main street, especially during busy times of day.

How can you avoid this problem? By planning ahead whenever possible. Instead of having a left turn at an unmarked intersection, you’ll want to design your route to reach a stoplight (or at least a stop sign). Going an extra block or two out of the way can end up saving you several minutes off your driving time.

What if you’re en route and an unavoidable left turn comes up? If it looks like your wait will be too lengthy, consider making a series of right turns. If you can save a lot of time (and frustration), it will be worth it.

One important factor about this strategy is that it is a safe and legal way to get where you need to go—and that’s the way to be, when you’re out on the road.
